Borough Moves is our community engagement initiative designed to promote mental health through the power of dance, culture, community, and intergenerational programs that are accessible to all!

Latin & Afro Caribbean Dance for NYCPS!

  • Bad Bunny & Bomba!

    45-minute bi-lingual auditorium performances featuring:

    • Pro Latin dancers,

    • Audience engagement,

    • History,

    • Classroom curriculum,

    • Multi-media learning,

    • Bilingual Q&A

    We open with traditional Puerto Rican Bomba and history, which is brought to life by our team of 4 professional Latin dancers. Next you scholars learn some movement and rhythms.

    Then you enjoy popular Mambo Salsa performances, funky Fusion, a “dance battle” and a finale to Bad Bunny where staff and students are learning and dancing along!

  • Community Rhythms of Hope: Latin Dance & DJ Events for all ages. 


    2 hour Latin Dance event featuring:

    • pro Latin dancers, 

    • bilingual Latin dance lesson for all ages, 

    • dance-along activities, 

    • mini performance and demonstration, 

    • DJ optional 

    Bring your whole school community together for a Latin Dance event where families that learn the basic steps, dance to a DJ and watch Pro Latin dancers perform.

    Dance has been linked to higher test scores and better performance in math and science.

    It improves cognitive flexibility, memory, focus, pattern recognition, adaptability, responsiveness, and curiosity, all of which are necessary for today’s new learning needs.

  • Tech Free-Focus & AI Anxiety Relief

    Dance provides a healthy, screen-free alternative that enhances focus, reduces AI Distress, anxiety, stress, and promotes mindfulness through relational social movement.

    5-minute dance breaks have been shown to improve executive functions and math performance in students.

  • Community, Character, and Interpersonal Skill Development

    Our dance programs unite students, families, and staff through shared experiences and performances that strengthen school culture and foster mutual respect across generations.

    Artist Residencies teach dance, character development, and interpersonal skills along side culture and rhythm.

    Community engagement events improve school climate and inter-generational engagement.

  • Social Emotional Learning

    Dance improves students’ behavioral health and social competence, with participants exhibiting less depression, withdrawal, anxiety, and aggression.
